CODE OF ETHICS

AriSEIA Code Of Ethics

The AriSEIA Code of Ethics is designed to encourage the maintenance of high quality standards in product, pricing, service, warranties, and more among AriSEIA members. AriSEIA is not a law enforcement entity, but we can remove members for violations of the Code of Ethics which jeopardize the trustworthiness and reputation of all AriSEIA members. Violations will be reviewed by our Board and will be addressed as outlined in our bylaws. It is our intention that membership in AriSEIA be a badge of quality upon which consumers, business owners, regulators and other stakeholders can depend with confidence.
The Arizona Solar Energy Industries Association and its members recognize certain obligations to the general public, to their customers, to the industry and to related professions and industries. These obligations bind the members of the Association to conduct business and promote their products and services in a manner which assures the public health, safety, and welfare through careful design, installation, operation, and maintenance of solar energy and storage systems, and which contributes to the professional advancement of the solar energy industry. This code of ethics is designed to promote the solar industry, and provide the highest standards of quality, professionalism, and customer service to our consumers while not inhibiting the growth of the solar industry itself. To fulfill these obligations, members of AriSEIA pledge to uphold the following principles, as well as review and adhere to the SEIA Code of Ethics​ and Solar Business Code:
OBLIGATIONS TO CUSTOMERS
  • Sales & Marketing
    • Members shall maintain the highest ethical standards of advertising, marketing, and selling guided by the principles of honesty, accuracy, and integrity, including, but not limited to:
      • Avoiding deceptive acts in the solicitation of solar work
      • Selling systems in compliance with applicable laws, codes, standards, and licensing.
    • Members shall not falsify or permit misrepresentation of their professional qualifications (license status, years in business, etc.) as a solar contractor and shall not hold themselves out as utilities or the government, nor utilize any agents or representatives that do so.
    • Members shall accurately present the capabilities, performance, and energy savings potential of solar and storage products and systems.
    • Members shall utilize knowledgeable sales personnel, trained in the solar products they market to provide customers with up-to-date, understandable product information, as well as the customer’s utility rates and applicable local regulations.
      • Members understand that anyone they utilize to act as agents (regardless of employment or affiliation) are bound by this code of ethics.
  • Installation
    • Members shall maintain the highest ethical standards in installation and service guided by the principles of honesty, accuracy, and integrity. 
      • Members shall quote realistic completion dates, and absent any unforeseeable factors, shall strive to fulfill these estimates.
    • Members shall design, engineer, manufacture, and/or install systems in compliance with applicable laws, codes, standards, and licensing.
    • Members shall hold paramount the safety, health, and welfare of the public, and customers in the performance of their duties.
    • Members shall perform contracting or subcontracting services only in their area of expertise for which they have a license or general contractor license, including but not limited to: roofing, HVAC, etc.
  • Other
    • Members shall act in good faith in the execution of their professional duties.
    • Members shall not affix their signatures to any plans or documents dealing with subject matter in which they lack competency.
    • Members that offer warranties shall do so in a way that is clear, understandable, and complies with all applicable state and federal regulations.

OBLIGATIONS TO EMPLOYEES AND INDUSTRY
  • Members shall be guided in all their professional relations by the highest standard of integrity.
  • Members shall admit and accept their own errors when proven wrong and take appropriate action to correct any error.
  • Members shall observe and foster the highest standard of safety and working conditions for employees.
  • Members shall not attempt to injure other members directly or indirectly by falsely making statements about their professional reputation and/or practices.
  • Members shall actively participate in the training of skilled tradespeople for the future welfare of the solar energy industry.
  • Members should not attempt to attract an employee from another firm by false or misleading pretenses.
  • Members shall avoid all practices which are likely to discredit the profession or deceive the public.

​Any alleged violation of this Code of Ethics will be reviewed by our Board and will be addressed as outlined in our bylaws. Members may be removed for violations which jeopardize the trustworthiness and reputation of all AriSEIA members.

The group's focus is on education, professionalism, and promotion of public policies that support deployment of solar, storage, and electrification technologies and renewable energy job growth and creation.
