Renewable energy ballot initiative fails (Proposition 127)
  • As you may remember, Proposition 127 would have required the state’s regulated utilities to achieve 50% renewable energy by 2030; and was considered by voters on the November ballot.
  • The initiative failed by a 70-30 vote. You can see the unofficial tally from the Arizona Secretary of State’s office here.
  • In response to the initiative’s failure, Pinnacle West – the parent company of Arizona Public Service (APS) – which opposed the initiative released this statement saying it wants to, “Continue the conversation with Arizonans about clean energy and identify specific opportunities for APS to build energy infrastructure that will position Arizona for the future.”
  • Notably, a similar ballot initiative in Nevada (Question 6) passed by a ~60-40 vote. Read more here.
