SEPTEMBER 20 NEWS: SALT RIVER PROJECT (SRP) UPDATES

SRP releases its latest energy efficiency report:
  • SRP published its 2018 report for energy efficiency which covers the results of its energy savings programs for its last fiscal year.
  • SRP reported 2.14% savings as a percent of retail sales, placing it among the very best utilities nationally for energy efficiency. SRP also surpassed its goal for the year, which was 2.00% savings.
  • SRP also reported that it is on track to meet its goal to achieve 20% of its retail sales through renewable energy and energy efficiency by 2020.
SRP issues all-source RFP for up to 650 MW of capacity to meet future peak capacity needs.
  • This month, SRP issued an all-source RFP for up to 650 megawatts (MW) of capacity.
  • SRP expects to add between 100 to 650 MW of new peak capacity between May 2022 and May 2025.
  • Eligible technologies include renewables plus storage, demand response, existing combined cycle natural gas power plants, and simple cycle gas turbines.
  • Proposals must be submitted by Jan. 15, 2019, and a selection will be made by the end of April 2019.
